Arizona Gov. Ducey issues executive order banning vaccine passports

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order Monday banning the use of vaccine passports.

According to a release, the executive order would prevent state and local governments from requiring Arizonans to provide COVID-19 vaccination state to receive service or enter a business, building, or area.

“The residents of our state should not be required by the government to share their private medical information,” said Governor Ducey. “While we strongly recommend all Arizonans get the COVID-19 vaccine, it’s not mandated in our state — and it never will be. Vaccination is up to each individual, not the government.”

“Appointments to get the vaccine will continue to be available to everyone who wants it, especially for underserved and vulnerable communities,” said Governor Ducey. “Statewide, more than 20,000 vaccination appointments are available, including more than 5,000 in Tucson alone.”

  1. Is this governor at all related to the Ducey fellow that used to be on FOX? I simply do not trust anyone in government any longer.

I truly had hope in Trump right from the get go….only because of all the right people who hated him. But now? I believe it’s all kabuki theater. I hope I’m wrong.

  2. For all of the crap I’ve given Ducey, every time I talk to my family in PA and NJ, I’m glad we have him. He can be a squish, but things could be so much worse.

Defeating Katie Hobbs in ’22 is everything (the nom will be her reward for delivering the state of Biden). If she wins, we’ll have no choice but to leave AZ… assuming we still have any semblance of a country by then.

      1. If I heard her correctly, she accused every one of us of being Nazis by extension. Wonder what other “moral obligations” she’ll think she has (we can’t have armed Nazis, now can we?).

The war over this audit is the war over voting reform. Without it, Hobbs is going to do exactly what Sinema, Kelly, and Biden were all able to do, and we go the way of California and Colorado.

  3. I look at the wording of this and wonder. It says “the government shall not be able to require.” But it says nothing against businesses being able to require them. I figure the Fed and the states will just (continue to) do their dirty work for them. And big business seems very willing to do so. Am I concerned about nothing? I have severe trust issues just now…

  4. Legal weed and the California license plates didn’t help matters. But I doubt Marc Elias would be here if they didn’t have a sizable fraud operation in Maricopa that needed some protection.

Coming from Philly, you just have a much higher bar for election fraud.

  5. Note that private companies can still demand proof of vaccination. Which is the goal. In a way this ban means nothing.

  6. He needs to extend that ban to private companies for it to be effective. The state and local governments won’t need vaccine passports if their corporate cronies can still require them. So his XO might be more show than substance.
