“Let us be unsentimental about the nature of the enemy.”

( This is from Harvard Salient excerpted via Rorate. The essay is spot on and excellent overall. If you don’t understand the gravity of this, with anything that is laid out here, you had better get your head around it. 9/10 should have been your wake-up call. This very topic was discussed yesterday during the recording of The Barnhardt Podcast #234, at the 28:00-32:00 minute timestamp. -nvp)

Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika, raises Charlie’s necklace to wellwishers

The End of Illusion: On the Assassination of Charlie Kirk and the Way Forward

By Richard Y. Rodgers and David F.X. Army

… (excerpts by Rorate)

[Kirk] could also be unexpectedly, almost annoyingly, moderate: a man who prized argument over obliteration, outreach over insularity, whose modus operandi was to cross campus thresholds and address anyone curious enough to ask a question. He exhorted a generation, plainly and insistently, to love God, love their family, and love their country. That was enough to get him killed.

Let us be unsentimental about the nature of the enemy. Leftism is not merely a rival policy set or an alternate party program. Leftism is a mental illness. There is no risk in naming the condition plainly when the symptoms are so evident: systematic hatred for inherited institutions, a taste for moral monstrosity, and a bloodlust that sanctifies obliteration—of traditions, of customs, of human life—as signs of progress. If you are on the Right and have been told this language is excessive, look instead at the evidence of behavior: celebration when opponents are deplatformed, undone—or worse—killed. They hate you. They want you dead. To say it this way is necessary, for it is in the flowery meadows of euphemism that rot truly spreads.

This is not a rhetorical flourish. It is a warning. To those who treat conservative life on campus or in civic society as an agreeable pastime—“a club,” “a journal,” “a debating society”—recognize that there is no safe neutral. The adjective “just” in front of any conservative endeavor is an attempt to be dismissed as harmless, but it is precisely the seemingly harmless that activists of the other persuasion seek to erase first. If you wear your conviction visibly, if you sign your name to a cause, if you instruct others in the habits that sustain a free and ordered society, you place yourself on the line, and, if the Left wins, they will place you on the gallows. That is not martyr rhetoric; that is realism.

For those of conservative disposition who wish only to lead a private life, cloistered away from the political fray, I am sorry. That is not possible. They won’t allow it. The logic of our hour is simple: if our institutions and formative practices fall, the private life you cherish will be the first to go. To wish for quiet while our enemies reconfigure the moral architecture of the nation is to wish for exile in place.

And yet, despair is not an option. Charlie’s death must not be allowed to calcify into a paralyzing fatalism. It must harden into a militant diligence. Reverence must be translated into work.

  1. On the face of it, it now seems like a guy who, like so many in the 60s came to college normal and ended up a far left revolutionary or a tool of the far left (we can call them communists).

I am prepared to believe this is what really happened, though I have lingering questions.

He was an online gamer, violent games, that also contributed.

    1. “violent games, that also contributed.”

Might as well blame the 2nd Amendment too.

The secular gamer community were the first ones calling out the lefty progressive alphabet culture infiltrating tech, journalism, and online services before it became cool.

Being 90% nerdy young males that uppity girls turn their noses at likely helped them maintain a more conservative culture which just the right level of A-holery to fight back against the college-educated Commy Inc. Karens who marched through the institutions trying to turn their “violent” hobby into a cuddly safe space for sodomitical sin, as video games were the last refuge for heterosexual disaffected men as they were pushed out of every other increasingly feminized institution.

Really, many should be thanking them. They were on the front lines of the online meme war against this brouhaha, and without them, the conservative movement online would never have gotten as far as it did, which is why the overlords at Visa and Mastercard are now assymetrically targeting them.

      1. I am flattered that everything I say, no matter how benign, will be used by my favorite imp.

I love the 2nd amendment . Started shooting when I was 7, in 1982. I’ve hunted, target practiced, etc.

I’m going to tell you something that, depending on your age may or may not mean something: kids today are different. They’re different, man. And violent video games affect them.

The online gaming “community” helped with the investigation. I didn’t attack the gaming community. I attacked violent video games.

Maybe it’s a generational thing, or maybe you roam the combox searching for something to attack me on, but I am OK with my opinion.

I will say that it is suspect how quickly The Lesser of Two Evils has hijacked the post assassination narrative in a bid to revamp his awful presidency, almost as if it was a perfect gift. I mean, Kirk was on the cusp of seeing Israel for what it is and is gone and now a tool for Trump to get everyone re-focused not on what he is doing but faithfully unquestioning his side.

        Obama.did this all the time.

Now that is controversial and I 80 percent agree with the official narrative so far. But I’m going to question it.

Hating violent video games has zero to so with the 2nd amendment. But, ok

        1. Hey Suddenly Mr. Sensitive, you’re the one drawing correlations. I milquetoastly critiqued that point no different than I have anyone else.

The kids today are certainly different. But so are the recent batch of games whose corporate overlords have been bending to lefty commy consulting firms and investors to push certain messages with an army of gaming corporate media to run cover for them. So essentially, no different than Hollywood and all their sexy violent content. But just as eith Hollywood, the violence today in both mediums is actually far more cartoony than in games of the past, at least as far as the most popular ones on the market are concerned. There is hardly that much blood, but plenty of LGBT content. And just like Hollywood, lead to significant flops and studio closures.

  2. “celebration when opponents are deplatformed, undone” – There is some of that on the Right, right now.

I don’t judge either way here, but plenty of leftists have said ugly things in the wake of Kirk’s assassination and, in the nameof consistent standards (albeit standards established largely by the Left), have been fired from jobs, etc. to the delight of some on the Right.

    1. To be fair, the right initially didn’t believe in cancel culture, they wanted to be principled, to treat others as they want to be treated.

But the other side was not reciprocal, and was always eventually going to wear out any and all good will.

Your kindness and tokerance and civility is seen as a weakness to them.

Hopefully, the right’s attitude finally ends, and more begin to finally question whether the Americanist errors of Free Speech, Democracy and Liberalism, are the bag of goods it’s Masonic founders sold them.

In fact, even the founding fathers were not as optimistic as many naive Americans or Western liberals today.

America will not survive unless it’s Constitution finally bows to Catholicism.

      1. “Your kindness and tolerance and civility is seen as a weakness to them” – Well I can tell you 1 thing Johnno.

What drives them crazy above all, is if you HOLD FRAME.

“Hold frame” means, you don’t give in to their B.S. or gaslighting, you continue to calmly, non-aggressively assert your own beliefs and, in the process, hold your dignity.

Oh wait – could that be what Christ meant by turning the other cheek? Hmmmmm.

Oh wait – is it what Charlie Kirk was just assassinated for? And yet a person should do it, even if they’re going to be assassinated, or executed viciously as Christ & the martyrs were? Hmmmm.

Said shorter: Demons hate it when you hold frame. It tortures & dominates demons.

      2. Whose Catholicism? Bergoglio’s or Pius X? And when this government is created who chooses what flavor? And in this “Catholic” utopia, would the natural right to protest, own guns, resist illegal searches and seizure be allowed?

Would this site exist? Would Ann Barnhardt’s exist?

We are all going to bow to Catholicism, but I am suspect of people who just automatically thinking labeling something Catholic automatically makes it better. And that’s because we are all human beings.

In this wonderful Catholic USA, which I am guessing would be a Catholic Monarchy, how likely is it that calling the pope a faggot as Barnhardt has done would be allowed?

Oh well, thinking this through is hard. Hey maybe that’s why Jesus started a church on earth and not a government?

        1. Your last statement is formal heresy, Mike.

          Unam Sanctam.

Every man on Earth must be subject to the Roman Pontiff. Both Spiritual and Temporal Powers. Whether Person, Priest, Prince or President.

Because the government shall be upon HIS shoulders. King of Kings and Lord of Lords – Yes, even modern representative Republics with paper ballot boxes.

Will you recant, Mike? Or are you too proudly American to be Catholic?

This is why I corrected you so long ago as to one of the most important benefits that Monarchy provides over democracy… It rightly orders things in reality and keeps one from thinking stupid thoughts – like imagining possessing weapons, protesting the Church and State etc. didn’t exist in any form at all until freemasons said,”Fiat Libertas”, and cast off their monarchies – using all that written and verbal speech, protests, and weapons their Kings mysteriously allowed them to have, manufacture, and accumulate… how curious!

  3. Per the article…has no one read about the French Revolution, Russian Revolution, Mexican Civil War, Spanish Civil War? Each one was the exact same scenario…evil vs good, left vs right, atheistic communists against God and family. What happened then can certainly happen now in America. The left wants us dead.

  4. ” ….. are the bag of goods it’s Masonic founders sold them.” (Johnno)

Amazingly, the “bad guy” was found in precisely 33 hours.
