I’m gonna make a case that some of these people are in Purgatory rather than Hell, and all are worth praying for.
Church-approved mystics / private revelations have said, everyone in their final seconds of life (or first seconds of death) gets a final-absolute-final choice as to whether they want to be with God in Heaven, or in Hell.
There is a famous story of St. Padre Pio, for example, who reassured a woman that her scoffing & non-believing husband ended up on his path to Heaven (but by theology, we might guess the man had a long detour in Purgatory) because in his life, he had done a few tiny acts of devotion or helpfulness toward God after all, was given his final moment of final choice, and he happened to make the right one.
In other words, we don’t know everything that goes on & how the Most Holy God judges people. Only He & Jesus do. So I cringe for those people who say, so-and-so is in Hell. Maybe, or maybe even probably; but you really don’t know.
As to praying for the dead: It’s useless to pray for someone in Heaven (they don’t need it) or in Hell (they can’t use it), but very useful if they are in Purgatory (which again, they might be – and you don’t know). Here’s the fun part. Mary, as Mediatrix of All Graces, steps in to redirect any graces you invoke from where they can’t be used, to where they can be used.
And then there’s Matthew 5:44. Putting it all together: Yes you always pray for all sorts of people, including some horrible people, knowing that Mary decides what to do with it and it will be something very good, quite beyond your knowledge or control.
I didn’t say he was in Hell. I said he now knows where God is, in answer to the question he wrote on one of his mags.

Dude was using an image of Jesus Christ for target practice and shot kids in a Catholic Church as his final act on the way out.
Even Judas Iscariot showed signs of remorse and acknowledgment of what he’d done. And unlike Pio’s example, the unbelieving husband wasn’t necessarily someone with a callous hatred of Jesus Christ and objective reality this guy had.
It’s highly highly doubtful this one was “some of these people.”
I’m not discouraging anyone from praying for him anyway, but I’d warn you’re getting awfully awfully close to the kind of heretical post-Councilliar mentality that dares to hope all men are saved and that Hell is empty.
No Johnno. This is only my guess now, but I’d guess about 1/3 of people go to Hell. The basis for my guess is that we know 1/3 of angels did and we know demons do not, repeat NOT, have greater power to influence people than angels. On the other hand, I’d guess maybe 2% or less of people go straight to Heaven. But my larger point is: We’re all guessing, and if you think you’re not guessing, if you think you know who goes to Hell…sin of pride.
We know dogmatically, as inferred from the direct words of Christ Himself, and numerous scriptural types that only a minority are saved.
It is a horrible dispairing thought that also keeps me up at night, but that is precisely what Christ said… very few bother.

Is it possible something happened at the last minute? Nobody knows. But given all the circumstances, it is very unlikely.
Do pray for him, and petition God that it be possible. But do not do the unwise thing of suggesting that last-minute deals with God are a guaranteed offer, or even if they are (and I do believe so), that our fallen constitution is always guaranteed to take it. We must live and encourage others to live as if we are more likely to slap God’s outstretched arm away simply out of habit.
When I reflect on my concupiscent habitual sins and how often I so easily give in to mentally, I imagine my resist/give-in ratio will determine how might act towards that last offer. So I truth, it may be that God only offers us that option after the end, but has been offering that to us with every temptation he allows, so as to train us. They’ll keep coming until we are immune. The frequency of going for the sacrament of reconciliation also plays a role.
One thing to be mindful of for confession, is to remember that the “Presumption of God’s Mercy” as we sin, is also a sin. The same goes for anyone expecting to turn to religion they ignored conveniently only after they are old and dying. It does happen,but it only gets harder, and we can’t count on our mental faculties and soundness of mind being guaranteed to be there.
That is wholly and utterly false; perfectly non, un, in and anti-Catholic and you are doing yourself and others a great disservice by repeating that heresy. That is a crude albeit alluring ruse and wicked deception, so commonplace in the languid & vapid VII Sect.

He recounts how a holy abbott, who died in the same hour as St. Bernard, appeared to his bishop to warn:

I’m no special partisan of hers. I’m aware of the case against her. But I’m also aware of “the case against the case” against her. I don’t want to open that debate here, but, always know both sides of any story. I am a professional counselor specializing in sexual and identity issues. I’ve worked with many young men and women who suffer with this condition, both those who wish to go through the mutilation process and those who wish to be cured of their disordered feelings.
In nearly every case, I have had the opportunity to get to know the parents of these young people. In every single case, the mother has severe unresolved mental health issues like Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, and/or Narcissistic Personality Disorder. There was even a study done in 1991 comparing the moms of boys with Gender Identity Disorder to the moms of normal boys. 100% of the moms of boys with GID were found to have clinically significant mental health problems of the kind stated above.
We see another type of psychopathology in the mothers who try to turn the sons into “trans” kids, namely Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. These mothers are different than the ones above in that these mothers are intentionally trying to make their kids “trans” for the purpose of showing that they are great and attentive mothers.
The mothers from the study above aren’t intending to turn their kids “trans”, and many times are horrified at it. These mothers more fit the “devouring mother” archetype who uses the son for emotional gratification and scapegoating.
If you want to stop these shooters, we have to address psychopathology in women. For the Munchausen cases, those women need intensive and long-term inpatient care and be kept away from their children. The “devouring mothers” need serious help as well, and these women cannot be relied upon to get help for themselves. They must be compelled.
These acts of terrorism by people calling themselves “transgender” will not cease if the upstream causes are not addressed.

I’d held off speculating about this, but it struck me as odd that the shooter’s identity and messages etc. are all freely public versus how the authorities and social media are quick to censor and clamp down in the past.
In particular, the timing of certain messages, such as implied anti-Israeli slogans, conveniently taking away from some explosive revelations coming out of Israel and Gaza regarding the deliberate targeting of hospitals and journalists, and a former Biden spokesman who let the cat out of the bag that whenever Hamas would agree to negotiated conditions of hostage releases, Netanyahu would deliberately add in new conditions at the last second that delayed things further, again and again…
As with the mysteries surrounding the Trump shooter, and other suspected occasions, certain patterns have emerged, notably that SSRI drugs are involved, government agents being the first to the scene, and it turns out our trans shooter is ethnically Jewish.

Johnno – Corporate media such as New York Times & CNN, have kept a blackout on the shooter’s motive. They keep stating it is unknown, mysterious, etc.
The stuff we’ve all seen about motive, has come from social media such as X. And Trump Administration figures, such as FBI Director Patel, to their credit, have stoked it on X.
So that’s where it’s coming from: social media, mainly grassroots, except now with FBI figures who stoke it, rather than Biden-era FBI figures who work behind the scenes for censorship & suppression.
Patel in particular has said that the shooter was motivated by a hateful ideology with documented expressed hatreds toward Catholics, Jews / Israel, children, and Trump.
You have a fine point, in essence, that the shooter had to PICK ONE for his actual suicidal shooting spree – and he chose Catholic, putting Catholic at the top of his hatreds. And I don’t think anybody, who acknowledges his motives (rather than maintaining blackout), would deny that.
Assuming the motive was to get the right-wing base emotionally on board, who do not trust the left wing corporate media, it makes sense to propagate it through X. Israel is hemmoraging Christian support, particularly Catholics.

I realize this is a belated comment but, the following link was only made known to me today, thanks to a friend. The Man In America podcast is raising serious questions surrounding the shooting. Questions such as, once again, the spectre of CIA/MKUltra involvement, questions as to the true identity of the trans character himself, questions regarding whether those really are his parents based upon legal documents found but now strangely disappearing online, and more — making this an even greater unsettling reminder of the depth of EVIL and depth of manipulation and control exerted upon us in our era.
