Mark, you’re a real gentleman. I’ve got another word for Bishop Martin but since this is a family friendly site, I’ll restrain myself. I am originally from this diocese and am grateful to the SSPX (especially right now) for having a chapel just outside Charlotte to serve the faithful. Where to begin…
First of all, he throws former Bishop Jugis under the bus, saying he’s finishing what he started. That is true and it should be a lesson to weak bishops like Jugis that if you give the enemy an inch, they’ll take a mile and toss the blame back to you. That’s what Martin is doing and all the “conservatives” in the Charlotte Diocese need to pray hard for Jugis (and Martin) but Jugis especially because those two will be judged at their personal judgement for this persecution they’ve inflicted.
Any TLM goer who gives Martin the benefit of the doubt needs to take a deep breath and assess the situation:
1) The extension of the TLM at the few remaining sites in this vast diocese was through October?!?! Why is it all of a sudden ending now when there’s a new pope isnt answered in these talking points. What did Pope Leo know in advance (if anything). It’s really interesting that a subordinate bishop would take such action so fast in a new papacy.
2) Bishop Martin issued the news on Friday, just as the long holiday weekend was kicking off. How cowardly! This was done hoping that the news would fall byte the wayside but that’s not happening, quite the contrary. Even the local, secular, ABC news affiliate is covering this one.
3) The allocation of a single, ugly, protestant fake-church as a chapel for the faithful in a diocese that stretches for hundreds of miles in all directions is the ultimate example of salt in the wound. It’s an attempt to show (fake) charity to the displaced faithful by giving them a “chapel” but its akin to telling black Americans to sit in the back of the bus, drink from the “colored water fountain”, or watch the movie in the balcony.
I’m in the Diocese of Charlotte a lot visiting family and I can tell you (Bishop Martin) that I’m going to double down on my support for the SSPX in that area. If anyone in that area is reading this, do not let them gaslight you into abandoning the Catholic Faith for the novus ordo. And for those going to “reverent novus ordo Masses” brace yourselves: the freemasonic, new world order, anti church is coming soon to your world. Are you going to be obeeedienttt or are you going to be Catholic? Stand up now and fight against this modern-day Martin Luther.
James, the best way for Catholics to fight this is to educate the Trump State Department and/or your Republican representative or senator about bishops by design replacing American priests with foreign ones. We must DEPORT every single foreign priest. No more visas for them.
That is the real reason that these liberal, homosexual bishops want to get rid of the Latin Mass. The study of Latin and theology and attending Latin Masses equal a huge increase of American vocations. The liberal bishops can’t have that! They will lose billions in shadowy funding if they can’t replace American priests with foreign ones. No foreign priest from India or Africa knows Latin; therefore, Latin is RAYCISS! Plus, these foreign priests are used to facilitate massive illegal immigration, again more funding.
If we get rid of these foreign priests, the Latin Mass will come back.
James, let me assure, brother, that there will be no gaslighting. In fact, if I understand things correctly, both of us should pray for the Society, particularly Fr. Bourbeau, SSPX, who covers Mt. Holly and then drives to Wake Forest every other Sunday to offer the Holy Sacrifice. He lives in Kentucky and makes a missionary trip to serve the needs of the lay faithful (now, in the ENTIRE state of North Carolina) several hours away from his normal residence (with a missing limb, to boot).
We find ourselves in similar circumstances, perhaps. The Diocese of Raleigh, the other “half” of North Carolina, sustained the same wicked attack on the authentic Mass a couple of years ago, as you may recall from my previous comments. The SSPX, despite their various shortcomings, which I have documented, do indeed fulfill an important role in serving the desperate faithful following the aftermath of “Trashcan Custodians.” God bless them and may they NOT cooperate with the antichurch in Rome, headed by Bergoglio, his successor Prevost, or any other villain.
May God bless the faithful in the Charlotte Diocese, which has now also become a Habitation for Dragons (Jeremiah 49:33).
‘Traditionis Custodes’ may have originally been intended as an ironic name. The official English translation on the Vatican website renders the phrase as ‘Guardians of Tradition.’ Oh, that sounds so lovely, right? So ironic….they suppress tradition while pretending to protect it.
But in classical Latin, and in its more common sense, ‘custodes’ means JAILERS.
JAILERS OF TRADITION. Or even “those who hold tradition hostage.” Either of these comes closer to their real meaning.
Same thing with novus, -a, -um. It has a terrible connotation in classical Latin. It means “new and strange,” “ novel,” or “new-fangled.” It means a sharp break from tradition. It describes in classical Latin perfectly the Novus Ordo Mass.
He’s as ridiculous as bishop cauchon. Conspired to burn Joan of arc. A petty and divisive cleric who wears sandals at mass to appear humble I suppose. Meanwhile he has no expenses and no doubt lives like a king in that state
It’s clear the NO Church, like the whole world, is under the spirit of antiChrist. As to the SSPX, it’s difficult to determine how many of their priests are still valid. And why, for heaven’s sake (literally) have they not consecrated new bishops? They’re in dire need.
Probably why sedevacantists don’t elect a new pope: They recognize that they have no authority whatsoever, even if they loosely interpret canon law to claim to have supplied jurisdiction.
I don’t know why the sede bishops don’t elect a pope. Maybe because they’re so divided; especially with thesis vs totalism. Perhaps one day. Sedes not electing a pope doesn’t explain why SSPX is not consecrating more bishops….it’s not as if they’re in “full communion” with Rome.
I notice there is no Q & A sheet addressing Vatican II’s errors and Francis’ Antipapacy.
The parishoners should make their strategy not to ask about the Latin Mass but to constantly press the bishop and priests about that daily.
Present the dopes with a counter-Q&A, and hold back not only your money, but your respect for them. Return to them with interest the same passive aggressive contempt and condescending language they love. Call it dialogue and say you are accompanying them back to their senses towards the Catholic faith and filial obedience to the true Vicars of Christ. Include AI generated photos of them prostrating to idols alongside Franky and JPII. Assume the worst about them. They are guilty until proven innocent. Pepper your petitions with BLM stickers and the Palestinian and Ukrainian flags, you know, symbols they fear and respect and won’t risk offending.
This is the only language they understand – Escalation.

Excellent point. Having studied it in college for a year it never sounded good. Now I know why.
I’ve always called it Traditional In Custody.

Absolutely. Doing away with the errors of the council will naturally solve liturgical problems.
Bishop Martin had an hour long meeting with Robert Prevost in Rome on April 1, 2025 “to discuss business matters”.
