SSPX church in St. Mary’s isn’t just a magnificent edifice, it’s a tool to help get us to Heaven

The new SSPX Church at their St. Mary’s, KS campus is going to be incredible.
St. Paul Outside the Walls and St. Mary Major in Rome are the principal architectural inspirations. The vault is 150 feet high. Seating for 1500. $30MM project, and they already have half of it in the bank. Not pledged, mind you… In The Bank.
At one point in the video, one of the layman makes the remark that the grandness and the vertical plane aren’t merely tasteful, beautiful, pleasing to the eye… they are tools designed to inspire holiness. These things help us try harder, help us get to Heaven.

The video is 24 minutes long, and well worth it.
I attended my first SSPX Mass last Sunday. It wasn’t any sort of statement on my part; it was a matter of circumstance. It was absolutely beautiful, powerful, manly. The MC was tight, the servers were trained to a degree I’ve rarely seen, and there were ten of them. Solid sermon, about 20 minutes long. A second priest was hearing confessions when I arrived, and he stayed in the box throughout the Mass. The congregants were friendly.
The only nitpick was cheap incense. Buy your priests good incense, folks. Try THESE. I prefer the Cantica most, but the texture of the Laudate works better with thurible and boat.
I’m not sure where we would be right now if not for Archbishop Lefebvre, but it’s hard not to think of him in Athanasian terms.
Saint Mary, Undoer of Knots, pray for us
Saint Athanasius, Doctor of the Church, pray for us
Saint Pius X, pray for us

  1. You’ve probably seen this video before.

The first time I saw it, it brought tears to my eyes simply because it encapsulates the reasons I brought my family on the long road out of the Protestant religion into the Roman Catholic Church. So many reasons to walk away. But, the flame is alive, flickering, dim … “Let it consume us”.
Eyes fixed on Christ, and His Blessed Mother, and all those who love them with us – in this and every age. I will never walk away because this is true.

  2. Btw, (no edit button here to add to my comment above), the video is awesome.
God bless the SSPX. I subscribe to The Angelus. Wish I had a Parish near enough to attend.
May they increase as NO dissipates into Amazonia.

  3. I find it really hard to believe Archbishop LeFebvre is not in the presence of the Beatific Vision.

  4. As much as I love the saintly Archbishop Lefebvre, my experience on a certain Catholic forum composed of mostly SSPX/Resistance types (numerous sedes as well), when trying to discuss the matter of the invalidity of Pope Benedict’s resignation, is that they have a visceral hatred of him. Even if they could be convinced of the truth that Benedict XVI remains the one and only reigning Pope, THEY DON’T WANT HIM BACK. Truly, these SSPX/Resistance types live as practical sedevacantists anyway (in a sense, paying lip service only to the Pope), which has finally made me realize why the *real* sedevacantists feel justified to rail against the SSPXers (who hold to the R&R position) as much as they do.
Plus, since liberalism has unfortunately crept into the Society, especially since 2012 with the current leadership seeking recognition from unconverted Modernist Rome (search: “Catalog of Compromise, Change, and Contradiction in the SSPX”), they have been receiving ‘gifts’ from Bergoglio to achieve that end — which goes completely against the founding principles of Archbishop Lefebvre.
Lastly, with the dissolution of Ecclesia Dei, beware that this isn’t the ultimate plan in the very near future:
