Prevost is an antipope for the same reason that Anglican orders are invalid even with technical apostolic succession. They don’t actually have apostolic succession because intention matters. In other words, it is not apostolic succession that makes Holy Orders valid; it is the Catholic Church that makes Holy Orders valid.
Similarly, Prevost is not pope because intention matters. Bergoglio was not a Catholic and not even a heretical Christian. He was a total apostate. He did not intend as the Catholic Church intends to appoint cardinals to elect a pope. In fact, he intended to destroy the Church with his cardinal appointees. Therefore, they had no authority to elect a successor. The Church is what gives them the authority, not Bergoglio. Since they do not belong to the Church, they have no authority.
Here’s an argument for why a true pope can never be a formal heretic at the same time: if a true pope could, he would be part of the gates of hell. But if the rest of the Church is subordinate to the gates of hell, then the gates of hell have overcome the Church, contrary to dogma.
