Too good not to share – TLM at Mary Major

(When I heard about this yesterday, a TLM at Mary Major, I had assumed it happened at a side altar. NOPE. High Altar and full glory, courtesy ICKSP! In the video below, you can watch the procession, with the light of Bergoglio’s latrine-tomb in the background. Enjoy. -nvp)

Francis Witnesses the Traditional Mass in Saint Mary Major

The Jubilee Pilgrimage of the Institute of Christ the King had a celebratory Traditional Mass in the Basilica of Saint Mary Major this week.

In the video below (tip: Una Voce Sevilla, Spain), that lighted spot in the background is the recently opened tomb of Francis, which was put in the place of a magnificent early 17th-century baroque  wall ands doorway, decorated with the most beautiful stone, destroyed and demolished to accomodate the enormous humility of the humble pontiff.

Anyway, the Mass is still here.

  1. Off topic, but can anyone tell me if these have Traditional names? or are known to have later become Saints?

    1. Paralytic from John 5, “pick up your mat & walk”.

    2. Roman centurion from Matthew 8, “Just say the word and my servant shall be healed.”

    3. Romans mentioned at the Crucifixion. One centurion (high-ish rank) said, “Surely this was a righteous man” or “Surely he was the Son of God”. Another, possibly same guy or possibly lower-ranking, did the manual labor of spearing Our Lord. I know of St. Longinus, who was one or both of those guys. If they were 2 guys, does Tradition tell us anything about the not-Longinus guy?

    1. 1. His name is not known.

      2. Neither is his.

      3. The soldier with the lance is Longinus. A Centurion, Cornelius, the same one mentioned in Acts, was also believed to have been present at the Crucifixion, though we do not know if it is the same Centurion who said those words or another. Some believe his name was Petronius, though apocryphal works have Petronius as the Centurion who was told by Pilate to guard the tomb, but that name is most likely a pseudonym.

Some modern adaptations might make up other names for them.

  2. Hopefully one day before the end of time, Bergoglio will be declared an antipope and his rapidly decaying* corpse will be exhumed and sent back to Argentina for burial in a masonic cemetery. Until then, may more TLMs take place at St. Mary Major to offset the basilicas defilement.

*For those who didn’t notice, Antipope Bergoglio’s body was rapidly decomposing while on display at St. Peter’s. I don’t know if he was embalmed or not but he was a grayish green before the funeral and the stench must have been horrific. The last time someone’s body there rotted so fast was Paul VI. Imagine that!

  3. One very interesting and telling fact is how completely uninterested everyone at that mass was in the tomb of Francis, right there – and how focused they were on the mass – on the priests and servers, on prayer and on Our Lord. Beautiful and fitting.
