Prayers work. More proof.

Posted by Father Z:

Under another post there was a comment from a reader who is a meteorologist about storms and prayer. HERE The parish priest prayed and had a procession against the storm. It inexplicably split and went around the parish.

I had the exact same experience once in Wisconsin when a storm bank with tornadoes was barreling down on my exact location, as indicated on the TV coverage with radar, right down to the addresses and time stamps. I went onto the porch, put on my stole, and recited the Litany with the prayers against the storm. Back inside, I watched as a baffled weather man said that the storm had split. The really bad went to the south and to the north around me. I’ve recounted this before.

Also, just a while ago, I wrote of an Italian priest who used the older ritual against a flood and it subsided, BAM!

When I say that bishops and priests should pray with the Litany, I mean it.

Thank you for your prayers. Please keep them going, now for those with losses and for the safety of those who must deal with the aftermath.

Loss of life was very low. 20 people? Is that not a miracle in itself?

Prayers are still needed. People are hurting. Everything is generally a mess, and will be for some time. Still over 2.2 million households without power.

Sunday is Fatima Day. Go to Confession tomorrow.

  1. Our ICRSS priests say a weather protection prayer most of summer. I do believe ive seen heavy rain storms split and go N and S around us.

  2. I read this years ago from a pamphlet on the Brown Scapular from the Fatima Centre:

Another Scapular miracle took place in 1845. In the late summer of that year, the English ship, “King of the Ocean”, on its way to Australia, not far from Cape Hope, found itself in the middle of a hurricane. As wind and sea mercilessly lashed the ship, a Protestant minister, with his wife and
children and other passengers, struggled to the deck to pray for mercy and forgiveness, as the end seemed at hand.

Among the crew was a young Irishman, John McAuliffe. On seeing the urgency of the situation, the youth opened his shirt, took off his Scapular, and, making the Sign of the Cross with it over the raging waves, tossed it into the ocean. At that very moment, the wind calmed. Only one more wave washed the deck, bringing with it the Scapular which came to rest at the young man’s feet.

All the while the minister (a Mr. Fisher) had been carefully observing McAuliffe’s actions and the miraculous effect of those actions. Upon questioning the young man, he was told about the Holy Virgin and Her Scapular. Mr. Fisher and his family became determined to enter the Catholic Church as soon as possible, and thereby enjoy the same protection of Our Lady’s Scapular. This they did shortly after landing in Australia.

    1. I recall, years ago, looking into this and (from vague memory) found some report or record to indicate that the Mr. Fisher did indeed become Catholic. I have it in my mind that he even became a priest, though can’t recollect the details with any certainty.

  3. Our priest also prayed at Mass against Hurricane Milton and even though the devastation is great, it might have been worse in a Cat5 with more fatalities. If more priests, and especially bishops, would use these prayers, it may continue to mitigate what the ‘other side’ is throwing at us.
