Where is FEMA?

Four days later and zero FEMA relief sites? Where are Brandon/Harris? Why is no one asking questions?

I must say it’s interesting that 30 inches of rain fell in one hour on the sodomy capital of the eastern US. But Asheville is surrounded by deep red counties, and many, many towns have been wiped out. Don’t be surprised to see the death toll into the thousands. -nvp

Asheville NC floods: While no government aid distribution sites are up, one nonprofit steps up

By Will Hofmann September 30,2024

ASHEVILLE – While Buncombe County had not yet set up aid distribution stations in the aftermath of the historic floods from Tropical Storm Helene, one nonprofit had taken it into their own hands — soliciting another national nonprofit to send aid.

Asheville Dream Center brought aid to the Asheville Mall on Sept. 29, likely becoming the first mass aid distribution site for necessities in the city. The nonprofit is the local arm of the nonprofit national Dream Center outreach ministry. The nonprofit Global Empowerment Mission was the first to respond to their call to distribute aid in the city, Asheville Dream Center Executive Director Michelle Coleman said…

“We really don’t know how long the water is going to be out,” Michelle Coleman said. “I went through the line here, and I talked to so many people and their fear is how long. Is it two weeks? Is it more than a month?”

I’ve watched the community come together out here. It’s encouraging one another and it’s building hope,” Michelle Coleman said. “We need that right now.”

  1. We remember the days when there was no thought at all about what our government did during a tragedy such as a natural disaster or weather event. No delay, no thought at all about politics, the networks stayed on the event relentlessly, our political leaders (and they were leaders) were right out there talking about the situation, how it was going to be staged, how help was going to reach our people and start the recovery process. Americans helped, we contributed to the Red Cross or other organizations, we did food drives and clothing drives, we cared! Now a major disaster like what is happening in North Carolina happens, and where the hell is our president and vice president?? She wants to “lead”? Where is she?? This is unbelievable. She wore a $64,000 necklace to the border. These people don’t care one iota about the average American. So many failures in the last few years, so many. Our leadership is a JOKE. God help the people of North Carolina and the region. Our hearts are with you, you’re in our prayers. GOP, make sure the people of NC can get ballots so they aren’t unable to vote.

  2. This is much worse than Katrina and if that’s raaacissstttt!!! I really don’t give a damn. Please pray for the poor white people (oh yes, I did just say that!) in these remote, forgotten towns in the NC mountains. What’s happened there is apocalyptic on an Akita scale.

  3. Do you recall FEMA’s response to Hurricane Katrina of 2005, which also caused the most fatalities and damage with 1,833 total deaths and over $100 billion in total damages in Louisiana.

  4. Katrina was the largest FEMA mobilization in US history. Kathleen Blanco, the pos governor of Louisiana mucked up the response.

  5. This hits home, personally. My wife is from a small town near Asheville. Thank God her family there is one piece (I got ahold of them on Sunday). We visited there for one of our anniversaries. Google, unfortunately, destroyed her town. How Helene did not hit it, considering it literally affected everywhere around it is beyond me.

  6. Donations can be made to Cajun Navy Relief, a private volunteer association that responds to hurricane and similar disasters.

  7. I guess Biden has been on the beach and the cackling witch has been raising funds in Hollywood among her evil supporters. But Mr. Trump is in Georgia and has brought supplies.

  8. If any one else knows of an organization getting relief to the actual afflicted peoples, that would be great if they could name them.

  9. Mike Church pointed out yesterday that as soon as a “state of emergency” is declared, FEMA take control of ALL government relief efforts. No camps will be set up without their approval. If the NC governor had mobilized the National Guard to initiate relief, we would already have relief camps and such.

  10. I am just gutted by the disaster in Buncombe County. It feels selfish to complain when I live in Texas and have been blessed by being spared from this disaster. All of my mother’s family are there and have lived in and around Asheville since the region was part of the Virginia Colony, having come from Northumberland to Virginia in 1682 and then having moved to western North Carolina and a homestead on Avery Creek by the 1760s.

History, beauty, and many lives have been lost by people who for the most part were never wealthy but just scraping by in Appalachia. I can’t reach any relatives there. It’s horrible. Let’s continue to pray for these afflicted people.
