Obsequium religiosum: The teachings of Trent, Vatican II, and the Bergoglian enigma

The short passage below, solemnly promulgated by Paul VI in union with the council that shall not be named, conveniently kills two birds with one stone. Not only does it vaporize the Recognize and Resist position, it also exposes the intellectual dishonesty of all “Conservative” conciliarism.

The R&Rs, who largely hold the council to be valid, say Bergoglio is definitely pope, shut up. We’ve had many bad popes before, you see, we just have to ignore disobey him until he dies. He hasn’t tried to do heresy ex cathedra, you know. “Conservatives” claim the council was hijacked, or badly implemented, and that you really need to look for the continuity, man.

Okay, here we go:

Among the principal duties of bishops the preaching of the Gospel occupies an eminent place. For bishops are preachers of the faith, who lead new disciples to Christ, and they are authentic teachers, that is, teachers endowed with the authority of Christ, who preach to the people committed to them the faith they must believe and put into practice, and by the light of the Holy Spirit illustrate that faith. They bring forth from the treasury of Revelation new things and old, making it bear fruit and vigilantly warding off any errors that threaten their flock. Bishops, teaching in communion with the Roman Pontiff, are to be respected by all as witnesses to divine and Catholic truth. In matters of faith and morals, the bishops speak in the name of Christ and the faithful are to accept their teaching and adhere to it with a religious assent. This religious submission of mind and will must be shown in a special way to the authentic magisterium of the Roman Pontiff, even when he is not speaking ex cathedra; that is, it must be shown in such a way that his supreme magisterium is acknowledged with reverence, the judgments made by him are sincerely adhered to, according to his manifest mind and will. His mind and will in the matter may be known either from the character of the documents, from his frequent repetition of the same doctrine, or from his manner of speaking.   Lumen Gentium, 25a

Now try saying this with a straight face: “Jorge Bergoglio is the true Vicar of Christ, leading the Church in an epic battle against the heresy, apostasy, corruption, thievery, perversion, idolatry, and Marxism of the antichurch.”

Here is the rub: Is this passage from LG true or false, objectively speaking? Have you read anything regarding obsequium religiosum — “assent of the will” due the true Vicar of Christ, as promulgated by the Council of Trent, and reiterated by Pius IX, Leo XII, Pius X, Pius XII?

You really should look into that.

Sedes in my combox in 3-2-1 screaming this proves we haven’t had a pope since 1958.

Portland mayor finally goes unwoke after 68 nights of terror

Mayor Ted has finally seen enough, and maybe he knows it is only a matter of time before they come for him personally. But worse than that, these terrorists are going to wind up re-electing Donald Trump! The mayor actually blurts that out. The horror!

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler Thursday evening condemned the actions of rioters who attempted to set fire to a policprecinct and blocked the exits while officers were inside.

“When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder,” Wheeler said in a news conference with Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell.

“Don’t think for a moment that you are if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are,” he said. “You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.”

A riot was declared Wednesday evening when agitators descended upon the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct building, spray-painted over security cameras, broke a glass door with a 2×4, lit a fire using an accelerant and threw fireworks and other objects at officers, according to FOX 12 in Portland.

Police said that a truck also attempted to run over officers.

RIOTERS VANDALIZE, SET FIRE AT PORTLAND POLICE ASSOCIATION OFFICE: POLICE

The front doors of the precinct were barricaded before the fire was started with more than 20 officers and civilian employees inside, police said, according to FOX 12.

Officers used tear gas to disperse the rioters and at least eight people were arrested. A federal court order bars police from using tear gas unless a riot is declared.

“I believe that city staff could have died last night,” Wheeler said. “I cannot and I will not tolerate that. This is not peaceful protests. This is not advocacy to advance reforms.”

Ultrawoke beatdown of Bari Weiss a lesson in what’s to come

In the wake of the 2016 election results, the NYT realized it was a little too woke for its own good. Only four years ago, there was still some shred of journalism at NYT, or at least some desire for honesty credibility, or at least some realization that being so utterly out of touch with half the electorate might be a wee problem for the Grey Lady.

So in April 2017 they hired Bari Weiss away from the WSJ as an op/ed editor, to open up the echo chamber. Mind you, Miss Weiss is no William F. Buckley. Her views are somewhat varied, but let’s just call her Center-Left (or rather, what was Center-Left in 2017). She has a bit of a nose for drama, not in a good way, but she tends strongly towards intellectual honesty, the rarest of qualities among the left. Her job was to make sure there was at least some sort of balance, sometimes, on the op-ed page. It worked for awhile.

But the Leftists mashed the accelerator for three years straight, which isn’t even accurate, because it has been more of a constant state of increasing acceleration. So by June 2020, there was no room left at the NYT for a young, Columbia U., Center-Left, lesbian Jew.

Imagine how much more they hate YOU, and what they want to do to you.

Lifesite has a good take on it below, and they link to her site and resignation letter. Well worth your time.

How the bullying of NYT editor Bari Weiss points to a coming tyranny

July 20, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – Liberalism thrives on the façade of a single lie to which all must subscribe—that there is no absolute truth. Of course, everyone knows or at least suspects that absolute truth does exist. In a liberal order, however, people pretend it does not exist so that everyone can get along. Behind the fiction of this façade, people can believe whatever they want as long as they hurt no one and abide by the rules of polite, civil discourse.

The problem with a system without absolute truth is that every error can also find shelter. Every absurdity must be welcomed, and the most glaring contradictions reign and clash. Behind this grand, lying façade that hides and tolerates everything, disorder festers. To the degree that common sense declines, the system eventually breaks down. People get hurt, and civil discourse unravels.

The bullying of the New York Times editor Bari Weiss marked a milestone in the breakdown of the liberal order that has so long ruled in America and the West. The writer recently startled the world by her blistering letter of resignation posted on her website.

The astute writer saw the handwriting on the now-crumbling façade wall. Error no longer seeks shelter behind the façade but takes command. A revolutionary mob has created a “cancel culture” that dispatches those who dare to disagree. Resigning was the best way for her to avoid the guillotine and hold on to her head…

Hidden FDA document explains why liar Fraudci blocked Hydroxychloroquine

From National Pulse:

A DOCUMENT NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM THE U.S. FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION REGARDING “EMERGENCY USE AUTHORIZATION” OF POTENTIAL COVID-19 TREATMENTS APPEARS TO SUGGEST THAT HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE SATISFIES THE CRITERIA FOR THE CLASSIFICATION, BUT WOULD STAND IN THE WAY OF LUCRATIVE OTHER DRUGS, AND A VACCINE.

The possible treatment, shunned by the mainstream media and Big Tech, has far-ranging champions from Yale epidemiologists to frontline doctors to President Trump. Despite this support, corroborated by scientific studies, the medical establishment under the auspices of Dr. Anthony Fauci have refused to grant hydroxychloroquine “Emergency Use Authorization” (EUA).

The document makes clear that Emergency Use Authorization cannot be used for more than one drug or therapeutic, and the establishment is potentially therefore saving the EUA pre-emptively for vaccines and remdesivir – patently high-value Big Pharma drugs – instead of hydroxychloroquine.

July 29th documents from a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) presentation reveal, however, that the “qualifying criteria” for extending EUA to the drug appear to have been met: it “may be effective” and that “no adequate, approved, and available alternative” exists.

The document makes clear that Emergency Use Authorization cannot be used for more than one drug or therapeutic, and the establishment is potentially therefore saving the EUA pre-emptively for vaccines and remdesivir – patently high-value Big Pharma drugs – instead of hydroxychloroquine.

General Flynn: Open Letter to America

My only quibble is his denial of prayer as a formidable weapon. Full text HERE.

Exclusive from Gen. Flynn: This Is My Letter to America

We are witnessing a vicious assault by enemies of all that is good, and our president is having to act in ways unprecedented in decades, maybe centuries.

The biblical nature of good versus evil cannot be discounted as we examine what is happening on the streets of America.

It’s Marxism in the form of antifa and the Black Lives Matter movement versus our very capable and very underappreciated law enforcement professionals, the vast majority of whom are fighting to provide us safe and secure homes, streets and communities.

When the destiny of the United States is at stake, and it is, the very future of the entire world is threatened.

As Christians, shouldn’t we act? We recognize that divine Providence is the ultimate judge of our destiny. Achieving our destiny as a freedom-loving nation, Providence compels us to do our part in our communities.

It encourages us in this battle against the forces of evil to face our fears head-on. No enemy on earth is stronger than the united forces of God-fearing, freedom-loving people.

We can no longer pretend that these dark forces are going to go away by mere prayer alone. Prayers matter, but action is required.

This action is needed at the local, state and federal levels. Action is also required in the economic, media, clerical and ecclesiastical realms.

Decide how you can act within your abilities. Stand up and state your beliefs. Be proud of who you are and what you stand for. And face, head-on, those community “leaders” who are willing to allow dark forces to go beyond peaceful protests and destroy and violate your safety and security.

Churches and houses of worship must return to normal. We invite everyone of goodwill to not shirk their responsibilities and instead act in a fraternal fashion. If for no other reason or with no other ability, act in a spirit of charity.

We cannot disrespect or disregard natural law along with our own religious liberties and freedoms.

I am witnessing elderly people lose their connection to all that is good in their lives: connections to their faith, their families and their individual freedoms, especially the simple act of attending church, something they’ve been doing for decades.

Let us not be intimidated or fear those who cry out that we are in the minority; we are not.

Good is always more powerful and will prevail over evil.

New York de Blasio delighted: Checkpoints, forced imprisonment, $10,000 fines

New York City sets up quarantine checkpoints as it toughens state travel restrictions

New York City is setting up quarantine checkpoints at “key entry points” along main bridges and tunnels to the city to screen travelers coming from more than 30 states with bad coronavirus outbreaks, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday.

“Travelers coming in from those states will be given information about the quarantine, they will be reminded that it is required, not optional,” de Blasio said at a press briefing. “They’ll be reminded that failure to quarantine is a violation of state law and it comes with serious penalties.” The checkpoints will begin Wednesday.

Dr. Ted Long, head of New York City’s Test & Trace Corps, said that a fifth of all new coronavirus cases in New York City are from out-of-state travelers.

The new agency is deploying teams to Penn Station and the Port Authority Bus Terminal starting Thursday. They are checking in on travelers through calls and text messages, “and if we can’t get through to you on the phone, we’ve deployed teams that are now knocking on your door and making sure you’re safe,” Long said.

“We want you to come into New York City, but we need you to safely separate for two weeks when you arrive to keep New York City safe,” he said.

Long said the city will help those quarantining with free food deliveries, assistance with medications, telehealth services or “even a hotel stay.”

“We know that it’s not easy to get through a two-week period of safe separation, but it’s incredibly important and were going to do everything in our power to help you,” Long said.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, alongside New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy, issued the joint travel advisory in late June, ordering travelers from states with a significant Covid-19 communitywide spread to self-quarantine for 14 days. The original order applied to only nine states.

New York had previously stationed “enforcement teams” from the the state’s Department of Health at the city’s major airports to ensure compliance with the advisory. All passengers from incoming flights from states on the advisory are required to fill out a traveler form.

The city has also partnered with hotels, train, bus and car rental companies, requiring anyone booking a stay in New York City to fill out a travel form so the Test & Trace Corps can locate them and monitor travelers in isolation, Long said.

People who violate the state’s order will be subject to fines and a mandatory quarantine, Cuomo said. He said the fines will be $2,000 for the first violation, $5,000 for the second and up to $10,000 if they cause harm.

“We need to make sure that quarantine becomes stronger every day. That that law comes to life more every day” de Blasio said.
